something he wouldn't have thought likely to ever happen, two years ago. But, of course, everything had changed now. There was a new Emperor, who
didn't terrify him, or anybody else for that matter. The new Emperor was a profoundly un-terrifying sort of person. He had a new boss, who wasn't a
psychopath and didn't throw him across...

"I just hope they won't cause too much of an uproar." Ichigo replied, getting up from his desk and moving towards the shelf where he kept his
tea things. Where most other Great Lords would have retainers and servants to bring their tea, Ichigo insisted on doing those sort of things by himself.
Motioning for Sai to follow him, he carried off the tea pot into the cooking area of his quarters. It was spotless, orderly and looked like the only...

"Thank you, I'd be delighted," Sai said, dipping his head politely. He was surprised at both the seemingly easy-going attitude of Lord Eboshi,
and his hospitality. It was unlike a Great Lord to receive him so graciously when he called on a matter of business, and a pleasant surprise.

Lord Eboshi did not seem a great deal like his mother. Although when they met, at least in front of Sai, they seemed to treat each other with equal stiff
formality, Ichigo alone appeared...

"Nonsense, Tamakazura-san." Ichigo replied to the man's apology, smiling with all the unintentional boyish charm he didn't know he had and it
seemed every female page was swooning over. "It's been so quiet in here today that I'm actually in the mood for company."

It wasn't a lie. The only people he had spoken to at all that day were the generals and a few of the men to get a feel for what they anticipated from him.
He had... been shocked to...

The first thing Sai thought, upon entering the room, was that the young Lord Eboshi looked as though he could do with a good night's sleep. Perhaps it was
the austerely black kimono, or the slightly messy hair (which Sai hardly felt he could condemn, as messy black hair was one of his favourite things, at least
when it was attached to Korin), but Ichigo seemed tired and drawn. Perhaps the pressures of his new position were getting to him. Sai could sympathise with
that. It wasn't...

It was a job he wasn't quite sure he was ready for. Sure, all of the other Great Lords were relatively young, but at nineteen winters old, Ichigo was
practically a baby. The softness of youth still showed in the young man's handsome face. You could just barely see it behind the hardness that years of
military training had left there. But there was a distinct lack of scars that a more seasoned fighter would have carried. Though his silver eyes glimmered with
the light of someone who...
